With their absence from E3 2019 a great miss for many, Sony fans were hoping that the company would deliver a showcase in the form of a State of Play livestream soon after. But its now been a month since E3 and still, no such livestream has materialised.

So far there have only ever been two State of Play livestreams, one in March 2019 and the second in early May of this year. Both showcases revealed exciting new information about upcoming PlayStation games as well as announcing new titles and DLCs for existing franchises.

All this means that fans are left wondering when Sony might reveal updates for their newest games and even information on the PS5. Will it be soon, or will we all have to wait?

Currently, there is no date for the next State of Play conference. Due to summer being a relatively quiet time for gaming news, its perhaps unlikely that well be seeing a surprise showcase in the very immediate future.

However, its likely that Sony are planning their next State of Play livestream for later on this year. After all, there are a lot of big, upcoming PS4 games that have been without news for some time.

For example, there has been a lot of chatter saying that The Last of Us Part 2 will release around February, but were still without major story and gameplay details, or an exact release date.

With the anniversary of Outbreak Day (the fictional anniversary of the day the Last of Us cordyceps fungus hit critical mass) approaching on September 26th, its possible that well hear more about Part 2 on this date. Could new info even come in the form of a State of Play?

Additionally, Death Stranding is due to release on November 8th of this year and, despite a recent 9-minute trailer, fans still dont really understand what theyll be doing in the game! More information in a State of Play would be very helpful in that regard.
